Vacation again!!! Roundtrip in Korea

MOA by OMA + try out new lense NIKKOR 18-200 VR

my last week studying at the INHA university lead me for a trip to the seoul national university. in the versatile freitag bag my latest toy, a 18-200mm VR lense. definite destination was the art museum of this university by rem koolhaas and his office OMA. the museum is part of the huge university campus which is until now the best i've ever seen. carfree, convenient, relaxing, green, interesting.

the museum was unfortunately already closed because i spent too much time bargaining for the lense....though i got really nice pics for my first try with it.

time to rock festival // SEOUL

on 30th of june we joined for little money a small one-day rock festival with just korean bands at the jamsil olympic stadion in seoul. in the end, it was a great glimpse of festival feeling but the main acts were far too much metal for a rock festival. i enjoyed most the afternoon bands like 'sugar donuts' or 'crying nut'. even some punks and other freaks, which you never expect in korean society, also gathered there. one of them, whatever on, was so excited after the performance of a kiss-look-alike band that he obviously thought it's necessary to bite me in my chest while passing by in the crowd. i didn't know, coping with weird maniacs is even in korea on your rock festival schedule. 

daniel libeskind // yonsei university

'architecture is a language' this is the title of a lecture, held by daniel libeskind last week (090528) at the yonsei university in seoul. we expected a huge crowd, which would be there if he lectured in graz, and arrived 2 hours in advance but there was nobody waiting at that time. so we used the time to explore another university campus of seoul, the oldest, built in 1924. 

half an hour late a friendly, smallish man in typical architects outfit walked down the auditorium and up to the stage. he was talking about many of his projects and also one competition in seoul which he recently won. it was a great lecture and afterwards he kindly answered our questions.

clubbing // korea university

the spring semester at korean universities is for one week just occupied by student parties and funny leisure activities on the campus, the spring festival. we took the chance to see an other university, the korea university which is one of the best 3 of the country, and enjoyed the closing event, a clubbing there, sponsored by jägermeister (hää?).

picnic on campus

sometimes i have a strong need to break out of culinary korea with as far as possible homelike dishes. in that case i enjoyed a nice picnic on the campus with corn-salad (of course with balsamico vinegar) and baguette.
