sunday afternoon /// at last time for reading...

finally i can do those things which i can´t during last year of intensive studying. reading, talking to robert without clear reason, surfing the internet, playing with photoshop and illustrator or just sit somewhere, thinking about anything.
all the things, which most of the koreans don´t used to do and what me makes a hippie out of!

short trip to countryside south korea /// sindo, sido, modo - three small islands in the north

the start of the day was longbreathed - we didn´t cought our bus, it stopped not at the bus station and only so short that there was no chance to get it. so we had to wait for the next, which comes in half an hour...maybe!

... the same, only drewn a few kilometers nearer.

we got a nice pension at sido island and the owner kindly took us for a trip around all three islands with his car. he also got with us to his grandparents - they appreciated us with delicious fresh grapes, self grown. it was a very nice visit in a traditional korean ambience.

...and this is a picture of the endless fields with rice. you maybe get the idea that rice is an important aliment - for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

this bay, we spent the first evening, just sitting in the sand and watching the horizont...


we spent the second day at this beautiful beach. swimming was not possible unfortunately because of the shallow depth water during falling tide. so we decided to relax in the shadows of the trees - marvellous.

on these two pictures you can see the big difference betrween ebb and flood. the first time i've ever seen that changing live. we were all very impressed of.

...what in the world is he thinking about....? maybe life, his girlfriend julia or just this situation....

our trip back home was the same disaster as getting there two days before. waiting for some buses we didn't know where they would bring us but who cares. just keep smiling!

trip to bukchon /// seoul

the main tower of the gyeongbokgung palace from the joseon dynasty. in earlier times it was the official residence of the founder of this dynasty.

two completely different faces of seoul - small cute shops and restaurants in between of traditional houses and stylish coffeeshops - in the background some skyline of the modern business quarter. you can enjoy almost every imagineable urban situation in this fabulous city with about 10 million people.

robert´s birthday

on the 8th of september, robert had his birthday and for a perfect party you need of course a birthday cake!

blume opens branch in seoul

two austrians meet 12 koreans in the design studio. we are taking part in the korean way of *entwerfen* and honestly we have to notice: not that real difference, at least how it looks like. BUT in one case the koreans are different, they like it to build small and dark spaces where they can work really isolated from any kind of deflection. so we both got nice places at the only window in the room and we kept it, as you can see, quite open.

our first visit in seoul downtown (on sunday), we were just drifting throught the streets the whole day: amazing big city but very beautiful, lots of green and much space between the high business buildings in the center around city hall; in another part there are many, many shops and the big market where you can buy everything and of course real cheap but on the other hand there are big shopping malls where only the popular western labels are offering and that is for korean measures very expensive.
we are pretty impressed and look foreward to the next time visiting this cosmopolitan city.

big adventure before seoul with julia, my love

before departure on 27th of august, me and my girlfriend julia spent five gorgeous and exciting weeks hiking through spain. we did the jakobsweg (way of st.jacob / camino de santiago) and it was an amazing time with great impressions. a few of them you can see on the pictures posted.
